We are saying bon voyage to our headliners today. I think they are made of pleather and are very sticky. Pull them down and “ta-da” cocky poop on the head!!
Instead of reconstructing the maze of headliners we are going to finish off the fiberglass and paint it an antique white. By doing this we are gaining 1-2 extra inches of head space and a surface we can clearly check for leaks. Added advantage that I’ll be able to easily wipe off anything the girls choose to throw up there.
The sight of a bathroom with dried toilet paper stuck to the ceiling and walls isn’t pretty.
This will make an airier cabin and maintenance friendly.
We will be painting a lot of the interior antique white except for the trim which we’ll keep high gloss. Our baby had a lot of water damage and to replace all the warped wall panels would be a financial and labor intensive nightmare.
Papillon crew says
We feel your pain on the Pleather headliner removal! It seems we were also doing this at about the exact same time last year. Once we had pulled all the vinyl bus seat material off, we found that only gasoline would dissolve the sticky glue residue effectively. The boat stank like a filling station and we wandered around in a daze fearing an inevitable explosion. Isn’t boat work super? Real family bonding time…
