bye bye Beaver, we’ve sold our bus and moving onto our next adventure

March 6, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Beaver Road Trip

What can I say, she was a great Beaver, sometimes a BAD Beaver and now she’s a Buffalo Beaver.

cleaning houseWe sold our bus yesterday in Buffalo NY to a great couple that has some cool trips ahead of them in a great bus. It was sad to see the old girl go but it was time. We had planned on driving her back all the way to Alaska but heck, it’s a lot of miles. We figured a flight back would be cheaper than the cost of diesel and campgrounds. These days it’s all about saving what money we have left. Plans change and that’s ok. [Read more…]

come tour the Beaver

February 4, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Beaver Road Trip

It’s taken a while to get some pictures up, you know with 3 kids I have more important things to do than clean. Here is a photo tour of our 1993 Beaver Patriot Motorhome.

The fun thing about this bathroom is that it’s located between the kitchen and bedroom, separated with two sliding doors that don’t lock. I thought we had no privacy on the boat but this is a whole different ball game.

can you believe our whole family can fit in this bathroom all at once?!

it’s that time again, Mardi Gras 2016

February 2, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Beaver Road Trip

We’re back in Mississippi visiting all our old friends we left behind over two years ago. Unbeknown to us we hit right in the middle of the coasts Mardi Gras week. We used to take the kids to the local parades when we lived here but they were a bit to young to really get into it all. This year they had a ball, emotions ranged from excitement to tears. We raked up a whole mound of beads, stuffed animals and candy.

Big thanks to the Lamb’s, Garcia’s and Gartman’s for including us in this truly southern event. We love you all!

Florida fun

January 23, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Beaver Road Trip

I’ve never been a huge fan of Florida, it’s flat, extremely built up and gets bloody hot in the summer. The winter is nice but still on the chilly side for me. It was a nice change from the frigid temperatures up north and the girls got some good biking time in. Capri is now off of her training wheels, Cali has graduated to one training wheel and Crew has got himself a swank new balance bike.

We found ourselves down near Orlando and we had promised each other years ago that we would never need that “Disney” experience. But hey, we all change right? We stayed at the Disney RV park and just couldn’t resist the Magic Kingdom pull, [Read more…]

living it up, in the Beaver

January 17, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Beaver Road Trip

It’s been just over a week since we left family in Massachusetts but it seems like longer. We’ve driven down the east coast and have made it to south Georgia, and I’ll tell you what, the weather is fine, fine, FINE!! It has hit the low 70’s today and Carl has started to complain of heat exhaustion.

The kids have been enjoying the RV life and especially the warmer weather. When the sun goes down they all drop like flies and we don’t hear a peep out of them until 7am the next day. Heavenly.

the Beaver and its Toad

January 13, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Beaver Road Trip

The love story between the Beaver and the Toad.

It’s a match made in (RV) heaven, our Beaver has a best buddy: the new (old) Jeep Liberty we bought in Massachusetts. But why do we call it a Toad you may ask, well that’s what their called, vehicles towed (toad, get it?!) behind motor homes.

beaver and toad love Our Beaver isn’t one of those HUGE busses you see cruising down the interstate, she’s a moderate size of 34’, but that’s still big – in my books. It’s hard when you hit a spiffy town and want to explore, where do you park? [Read more…]

Happy Salty New Year

January 2, 2016 by Carly Filed Under: Alaska, Arctic, Australia, bahamas, Beaver Road Trip, Caribbean, New England, Newfoundland, Northwest Passage, Nova Scotia

Of course it’s the 11th hour and I’m writing a post for the New Year. I’m late for everything, never on time, always in a flustered rush. But hey, if I was on time that wouldn’t be me.

New year resolution…. better time management.

Ha! Let me put that on the list of eat better and exercise, those New Year’s resolutions seem to roll over year after year.

happy new year

We all know very well on the improvements we need to make on ourselves but what of those achievements we’ve reached previously in the year? Lets check those puppies out people! What did you pull off in 2015? [Read more…]
