Our new windows, they look shit hot!

We really don’t know what to do about the windows for the new dodger. We would like the dark gray to match the side windows but will we be able to see out of them at night????? WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO? Will it look ridiculous if we have two different colored windows?

busy bees

May 9, 2013 by Carly Filed Under: Kids, Refit, Sewing

It has been a busy couple of weeks for all of us. My mum has come into town for 5 weeks from Maroochydore Australia. We filled the car us with all sorts of snacks and clothes and headed for Washington DC for the girls Australian passports. NOTE TO SELF: never go on a road trip with toddlers ever again.
While away Carl has been working long hours on the boat. I’ll nip down there today with the fam to get an update on the progress and take some pics of course. I’ll also have an eye out for a daycare. The girls were in full time daycare when I was working but have been out for about a month or so. I have a load of sewing to do and we hope to sail down to Biloxi in a couple of weeks to put her up on the hard. Wish Carl had a good wife that had mended the sails already!!! At this point we’ll be motoring all the way. Looks like some long nights for me with Mr. LZ1. But not this weekend. Off to New Orleans with mum (kid free).

we take it day by day

Every day that goes by we are a small step further to leaving. Carl put in the engine room insulation to help with the sound in the girl’s room. I was rather impressed, it look fantastic. We purchased the product through Soundown.

Hopefully the coming week will bring a splash of primer to the interior – how exciting!!!

We are finally making some headway on the boat and getting some rewards. Carl is putting the primer on the outside. He’s feeling a little discouraged but I think it looks hot!

great stanchion company

March 13, 2013 by Carly Filed Under: Refit

We have on order stanchions from White Water Marine we haven’t received the product yet but all I can say is how great it is to get back a quote same day and to have the person who quoted me pick up the phone when I called. I thought companies like this were long gone.

It’s terrific to be in the Marine industry, we get everything wholesale. FABULOUS DARLING! We saved a few hundred $$$ on our miniature stove and now again on the stanchions. We chose the above company over Defender because they are fully welded and not just with a cap jammed on the top. I have kids I’ll give them a full 60 seconds before they figure out how to pry the tops off and toss them overboard!

Can’t wait for our new stanchions to arrive the current ones I think are original and bent over time. We are raising the height to 30 inches which will help keep the little ones on the boat. All we need now is the cable and new netting then put some toys on deck and let them go wild – literally!

she fits

Nothing like a couple of blokes and a bright blue engine in close quarters.

our lovely engine room

March 4, 2013 by Carly Filed Under: Refit

Here are some pictures I took with my phone this morning. It’s a big day, the motor is going in!!! I think my husband has an obsession with “clean” surfaces. EVERYTHING has to be painted.

Our custom tanks have been put in. They look fantastic!!! Thanks to Carl and Mr. Charles!!

….. and again with the paint….

UPDATE: unfortunately the motor didn’t fit in the boat. It’s kinda like folding up a map, you know it should go back the same way but it just doesn’t!!
Well we had to get some “stuff” fabricated and added to the engine because they no longer made what ever it was – really not technical mind. For now we’ll call it the thingy-ma-jiggy. Once the new thingy-ma-jiggy was put on Carl had a pretty good inkling that it was going to be too big for our little engine room (but bigger than most). So back to the drawing board. I think we’re going to have to move the engine mounts aft (I believe). He better hurry up tho, that pretty white paint is getting dustier by the day.
