Today really started yesterday. The grocery shuttle took me past Montagu Beach in Nassau to check out where the weekend boat race will be. I was listening to the radio and they mentioned something about a Valentines Day massacre. I thought oh my not more American blood shed. Later that day when I got back to the boat I started checking in on the news but nothing. No massacre, nothing. So I forgot about it.
This morning we headed over to the marina pool with the girls just to get them off the boat, I don’t know why but kids are always so entertained with water. Later in the afternoon we thought we’d extend on that boat play by checking out the local regatta. We arrived just in time to see the boats line up and we were able to go boat to boat, bantering back and forth. “this is the Valentines Day massacre, mon” – oh that explains everything!
The race started in Bahamian time, of course. A lot of yelling and cursing between the crews and officials, quite amusing. It was a great race and beautiful boats. What a lovely afternoon.
And just to let you know it was a massacre. The winner slaughtered the rest of the crews, winning by a mile.
