Next week our journey really begins, we’ll be leaving Newfoundland and heading north to Labrador. Last summer we circumnavigated Newfoundland and for us that was crazy adventurous, every stop new and exciting. But now we sail Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and hanging out at our favourite ports from last year, it’s good to be back but the excitement is gone. The thrill of Labrador and Greenland are on our horizon and we are itching to leave.
The plan is to sail from St. Anthony over to Labrador and slowly crawl up the coast with day sails, that being said it’s daylight here from around 4am to at least 10pm. It will get too iffy to dodge ice floe and icebergs in the dark. We don’t think we’ll make it too far north up Labrador, we’re early in the season and most of the coast line is still suffocated with ice. From there we’ll make the jump to Greenland which will be about a 6 day sail. This is going to be an interesting crossing to say the least, lows tend to kick up the weather every few days. We’ll be carefully picking our weather window. Newfoundland and Nova Scotia we’ll miss you but Labrador and Greenland are calling. Adventure awaits. We are so blessed to be able live the life we lead. For us as a family it’s an experience not easily topped.
Here’s a few pictures of our time in Newfoundland.
