Northwest Passage

2015

In the summer of 2015 we attempted the Northwest Passage with our 3 kids and 2 extra crew on board. What an epic trip and we were blessed to make it through with no major problems.

 

 

 Greenland

2015

We made it to Greenland, what a magical place. We spent about 6 weeks sailing up the west coast all the way north to 78 degrees. Hello Santa!

 

US to Greenland

2015

This was the start of our Northwest Passage attempt in 2015. We sailed up from Plymouth Massachusetts destined for Nuuk, Greenland. Due to bad weather we made it to Paamuit Greenland.

Spring 2015
North Carolina is a great place to get work done on the boat. Reasonable dockage, great yard/marina and friendly skilled contractors. We all go a little crazy when not moving so I tried to capture some of the madness in a quick video.

 

Nova Scotia and Newfoundland 
Summer 2014

We decided that we wanted to find an iceberg, so up north we traveled. Nova Scotia was wonderful, friendly people and a green landscape. We sailed up through the Bras d’Or Lake and continued north to Newfoundland. It’s called “The Rock” by Canadians and we understand why. Fresh produce was pretty scarce and extremely expensive but the scenery was spectacular. We bent our boom and hit a big rock but hey, it was worth it.

 

 

Nightline Visits SV Salty in the Bahamas

In the March of 2014 Ben and Rina from Nightline came onboard for 2 days and 1 night to film a segment for their story based around the Kaufman family that had to be rescued while crossing the Pacific. We had such a great time while they were aboard and the girls LOVED the camera.  

 Bahamas 
Winter 2014

We left NC a few days before Christmas and arrived down in the Bahamas for the winter season of 2014. What a first great season we had on board. The perfect test ground for a new boat and new crew! Our third crew member was also born in the Bahamas, unforgettable.

   

Offshore Florida to Massachusetts 

Carl, Frank and Peter sailed from Stuart FL to Marion MA in 7 days. Being that our baby was so young (1 month) we were nervous about taking him offshore for the first time. I flew up north with all the kids (now that should have been a video!).  Smooth sailing north with a fabulous crew! Thanks fellas!
